    2011 Competition Rules

  • Beers entered in HRBC will have points transferred into BARF BOWL.
  • Brewer may enter more than one beer per competition. The beer with the highest score will move on to Best of Show round.
  • The competition will run from January until December.
  • The Brewer who accumulates the most points for the year will win the competition! There is also a 2nd and 3rd place finish for the year.
  • In the case of a tie for any finishing place at the end of the year, the most finishes at the highest place in each competition will be counted, until a tie does not result. For example, a tie would result in counting most first place finishes, if still a tie, count second place finishes, and so on. No resolution will result in a grand brew off of the presidents discretion.
  • Members will accrue points through entries placing in the Bi-Monthly and special Competition on the following basis:
  • 3 points for 1st place
  • 2 points for 2nd place
  • 1 points for 3nd place
  • 1 point per brewer that enters. If a brewer enters two beers, then 1 point will be awarded for that brewer.
  • Judging will be held on the 1st Thursday of the month. 7PM at Homebrew USA.
  • Entries are due at time of judging.
  • Each bottle shall have an ID label attached with a rubber band. The BJCP ID label can be found at:http://www.bjcp.org/compcenter.php
  • Entries shall be judged in accordance with the 2008 BJCP guidelines. 2 Points will also be awarded for brewers who enter the annual Beer Blitz. This is 2 points per brewer, not per entry
  • Each entry shall consist of two (2) 10-14 ounce bottles, or one (1) 22 ounce bottle. The use of brown glass bottles is encouraged.
  • Any brewer who places first in a competition is encouraged to enter in an AHA competition. At request of the brewer, the entry fee and shipping expences shall be sponsored by BARF to enter the winning beer in the AHA sanctioned event of his/her choice.
